Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you cover?

Although our tree surgeons work in parts of Croydon, South London, Kent and, Surrey, we primarily carry out our work in West Wickham, Bromley, Beckenham, Shirley, Sanderstead and Selsdon.

Why should I check the credentials of anyone claiming to be a tree surgeon?

Anyone can claim to be a tree surgeon. We would advise checking that the person or company you employ has undertaken some form of training. It could be a National Certificate, Diploma, Lantra, or NPTC qualification. There are a lot of firms in and around West Wickham with shiny new vans and equipment. Yet this is not proof of their knowledge of arboriculture, or their insurance credentials, quite often these firms have neither.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry Public Liability Insurance of £5 million and Employers’ Liability Insurance of £10 million.

What qualifications do you and your staff hold?

Owner and founder, Peter Rowland, holds an NCH in horticulture/arboriculture from Merrist Wood College which he completed in 1990/1991. He also holds several NPTC qualifications.

All of our employees hold NPTC qualifications, in line with the current standard for our industry. Anyone using a chainsaw on a professional basis must have the necessary training and have some form of certification to prove this.

Will you provide a written quotation?

Yes, we will be happy to provide a written quotation.

When you prune a tree what happens to the debris?

All debris will be removed from the site in or around West Wickham, unless you request otherwise.

If the trees are protected, who is responsible for obtaining permission?

If your trees are covered by a tree protection order (TPO), or you live in a conservation area, you must obtain permission from the local authority. This application can be made on your behalf.
